it occured to me the last time i thought of the thought experiment; “maxwells demon” that his system was unnecisarly complicated. in that it would not require demon controling a gate only letting in the faster moving particles, but simply a one way valve. The variance in speed of indvidual particles would dictate their probability of hitting the gate. so if the gate was shut after a predetermined time limit there would be a varience in temperature.
similarly the first box could be designed as a sort of race course that would exagerate the likleyhood of fast moving particles passing into the second box first.
surely there is some massive flaw in my argument ??
